I got this strategy from an art teacher. And now that I think about it it actually makes total sense! You only have so much short term memory, eventually your brain starts to throw out into to make room for new info. An example would be repeating something 100 times in succession or studying for 8 hours nonstop. This method of learning is super inefficient! Your brain ends up throwing out almost 90% of what you could’ve learned! This can be remedied by focusing in much more and practicing for shorter periods of time. Say for example, drawing for 45 minutes and then taking a 15 minute break. This lets your brain absorb what it just learned and commit it to long term memory. You end up retaining so much more.
…if only I figured this stuff out sooner….
